CarrierPony for PGP users
You have a key you've guarded for years. CarrierPony takes that exact identity (imported straight from GnuPG or PGPony) and gives it something OpenPGP never had on a phone: a pleasant messenger.
Your key, unchanged
Export from GnuPG and import into CarrierPony. The three-minute guide covers it. Your fingerprint stays your fingerprint, your passphrase stays enforced, and the contacts who have verified you over the years are verifying the same key when they pair with you here.
What you gain over PGP email
- The envelope finally matches the letter. No cleartext subjects, no From/To headers, no provider archive. The full comparison tallies it up.
- Sign-and-encrypt as the only mode. No client misconfiguration, no "forgot to enable protection for this draft." Every envelope is sealed and signed, mechanically.
- Fingerprint verification, humanized. The safety number is the fingerprint comparison you already believe in, packaged so your non-technical contacts will actually do it.
- Files without attachments folklore. 50 MB, encrypted, signed, in a dedicated tab, with no MIME archaeology.
What it doesn't do
CarrierPony doesn't do keyservers, WKD, web of trust, or encrypted email. That's PGPony's territory, same developer, same PGPonyCore engine. And it makes no forward-secrecy claims OpenPGP can't back: the model is the one you already understand, applied with better hygiene.
Using the key in other apps
Because everything is standard OpenPGP through an engine that round-trips with GnuPG, your key isn't captured by any app, including this one. Use it in GnuPG on the desktop, PGPony for mail and files, CarrierPony for conversations. The key outlives the tools, which is the whole idea.
